Harris Ave. House by Charles Goodman

Harris Ave. House by Charles Goodman (Birds Eye)
Built in 1951.

This house is located in Wheatoncrest, which includes 27 homes designed by Goodman for developers Paul Berman and Paul Hammond. 250 homes were originally planned but the land they purchased–unlike the land used for Hollin Hills–was already cleared of trees and the homes did not sell well. They eventually sold the rest of the lots to other developers who did not build modern homes. This house has some interesting touches including high clerestory windows in the one bathroom and operating transom windows over the doors of each of the three bedrooms. It also has some good outdoor space for the warmer months.
