In 2011 cigar magazine Cigar Aficionado named Hector Luis Prieto as "Cuba's Rising Star". In 2008 he won Habanos Man of the Year Award for having a higher yeild of fine wrapper tobacco than any of his neighbors. At the time he was the youngest man to win the award at 39 years of age.
