Hector the Protector was the first troll created by the Danish artist, Thomas Dambo. Hector was created in 2014 and destroyed by Hurricane Maria in 2017. Dambo returned to Culebra in 2019 to build a second Hector. This photo sphere is from February 2019.

The wooden sculptures/trolls are made mostly from recycled materials. With the help of local volunteers, there are now about 170 trolls in 20 countries.
