It is located 1 mile (1.6Km) from Junction 18 on the M6 Motorway and 25 miles (40km) south of the city of Manchester and 20 miles (32km) north of the city of Stoke-on-Trent.

The village developed around the crossroads of the A50, running from north to south. with the A535, running from east to west.
