Honda Civic Type-R (Mk. 5) (StreetView)
The 5th generation Honda Civic Type-R was first displayed as a prototype in the 2016 Paris Motor Show before having the production version revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. This hatchback is powered by an updated version of the 2-liter K20C1 turbocharged I4 the 4th generation had and exclusively comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. On April 3, 2017, it set the record for being the fastest FWD car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife at 7:43.80, around 7 seconds faster than the previous incarnation. It also became the first of the top of the line Civic models to be sold in the North American market, starting June 14, 2017, albeit with 10 hp less than the European and Japanese models, in which these specifications were also standard for Africa and the rest of Asia. The next generation of these hot hatches are expected to be produced in Japan with the Swindon manufacturing plant that also produces the Civic Hatchback it is based on to shut down in 2022.

Prices of the Civic Type-R typically ask for at least $35,700 when sold as new.
