Born Hugh Anthony Cregg III, Lewis adopted the stage persona and quickly became known professionally as Huey Lewis. A triple threat, Lewis can sing, dance, and act. His most successful commercial endeavour, The News is a classic 80’s pop act, with Lewis singing lead and playing harmonica for his band, in addition to writing or co-writing many of the band's songs. The band is best known for their third, and best-selling, album Sports, and their contribution to the soundtrack of the 1985 feature film Back to the Future. Lewis has also previously played with the band Clover from 1972 to 1979.

Lewis has a net worth of $20 million. Lewis famously dropped out of Cornell University to focus on music forming a band that would become Huey Lewis and the News. This act quickly became one of the most popular musical groups of the 1980s, but struggled to sustain success beyond a few dozen popular hits and a series of extremely popular music videos. Sports, their most successful record, sold over 10 million albums worldwide putting it amongst the most popular pop albums of all time. Sports featured four top-ten hit songs and would go on to be the second best album of 1984, behind Michael Jackson's Thriller. Huey Lewis and the News' next album Fore! Was another multi-platinum release. Fore! Had five top 10 singles and was number one on the Billboard charts. Arguably, the band's most famous song is Power of Love, largely because the song was featured prominently throughout the blockbuster movie "Back to the Future". Huey Lewis remain popular even today, touring internationally to this day.
