It opened in the northwest Portland part of the Old Town Chinatown neighborhood in 1928 and relocated to the southeast Portland part of the Montavilla neighborhood in 2005, before closing permanently in 2015. The restaurant's decorative sign in Old Town Chinatown has become a landmark.

Hung Far Low's is a Portland Icon for people of my generation. Open all night, after a punk show or hanging out at the City Nightclub - a long gone LGBT dance club - we could sit at Hung Far Low's and "pig out" on cheap but excellent Americanized Chinese food - and maybe drinks...

And yes, that's a homeless person's tent, Old Town and Chinatown are saturated.
