International Søndervig Sand Sculpture Festival 2009

International Søndervig Sand Sculpture Festival 2009 (StreetView)
In the first two weeks of June, 27 of the world’s most creative sand sculptors will meet in Søndervig and work together to create some of the most spectacular works of art the world has ever seen.

After two weeks of preparation, the signal will sound for ten days of transforming 3,000 tons of sand into aesthetic enjoyment in the form of numerous spectacular sculptures.

A 100 metre-long by seven metre-high sculpture wall will be built under the theme “The mysteries of Egypt”, seen through a kaleidoscope of today’s modern energy production.

In addition, a 30 metre-long by seven metre-high sculpture wall will encircle the festival area, which will present eight individual sculptures in heights of up to four metres.

This is Denmark’s biggest sand sculpture festival, which had 75,000 visitors in summer 2009.
