Israel Kamakawiwoʻole was a Native Hawaiian singer-lyricist, musician, and Hawaiian sovereignty activist, best known for his 1993 medley of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World".

On 26 JUN 1998, Kamakawiwoʻole died of respirator, heart, and other medical problems at the age of 38. He battled obesity his entire life, at one point weighing 757 pounds, while standing 6'2".
