Japanese Shrine and Suicide Cliff

Suicide Cliff on Tinian is a somber World War II historical site in the southeast where Japanese soldiers and civilians jumped to their deaths in July and August of 1944 to avoid surrender. Now a peaceful spot with panoramic ocean views, it features memorial shrine erected by family members to pay a last tribute to their beloved (RED). There are several other monument here as well, particularly the Okinawan Memorial Monument (GREEN), a memorial dedicated to the thousands of Okinawan civilians and soldiers who died during the Battle of Tinian in 1944. The suicide cliff is the YELLOW area.

Not to be confused with the Suicide Cliff on the island of Saipan that has a similar history.
