Walter James McNerney Jr. is the Chairman and CEO of Boeing, the world's largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft. He has also been Chairman and CEO of conglomerate 3M. McNerney held top executive positions at GE including president and CEO of GE Aircraft Engines and GE Lighting; president of GE Asia-Pacific; president and CEO of GE Electrical Distribution and Control; EVP of GE Capital, one of the world's largest financial service companies; and president of GE Information Services. McNerney competed with Bob Nardelli (Chairman and CEO of Chysler and Home Depot) and Jeff Immelt to succeed the retiring Jack Welch as Chairman and CEO of GE.
