Joel B. Alvord's House

Alvord is the President and Managing Director at Shawmut Capital Partners, Inc. Mr. Alvord co-founded the firm with Mr. Dan Doyle in 1997.

Previously, he led a distinguished career over 34 years in financial services. Mr. Alvord has managed over 60 acquisitions and divestitures of financial services businesses. He has been active in a number of professional organizations. Mr. Alvord began his career in banking in 1963. He became the President at the Hartford National Corporation in 1978 and served as the Chief Executive Officer at Shawmut National Corporation from 1987 to 1995 and a Director since 1987, following its merger with Hartford National. Mr. Alvord also founded Shawmut.

He serves as the Chairman and Director of Shawmut Bank, National Association, and a Director of Shawmut Bank Connecticut since 1978. He served as a Director of Shawmut Bank, National Association since 1988. Mr. Alvord is a Member of the Strategic Advisory Board at Symmetrical Capital, LLC. He was a Director at HSB Group Inc. since December 1971. Mr. Alvord is a former Member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and Swiss Reinsurance Company of North America. He was a Director of CUNO Incorporated since August 1996.
