"On February 27, 1974, Valley Guild, a volunteer, nonprofit organization opened the newly restored Steinbeck House as a restaurant. The Steinbeck House is John Steinbeck's birthplace and boyhood home. Photos and memorabilia are on display. The house is located at 132 Central Avenue, two blocks away from the National Steinbeck Center." Steinbeck lived in the house until he was 17.
