This larger-than-life sized bust of Joseph Lister stands at the Regent's Park (northern) end of Portland Place in London. Lister, a surgeon, was responsible for bringing cleanliness to Victorian operating theatres with the use of antiseptic. This led to a reduction in post-op infections and improved patients' chances of survival.
