McHale teamed up with Larry Bird and Robert Parrish to form one of the most formidable front lines in NBA history. McHale is known as one of the most skilled post players and post defenders of all-time and one of the most humerous.

After retiring McHale became an assistant, General Manager and head coach with his hometown Minnesota Timberwolves. He is currently the head coach of the Houston Rockets.
