Khizr and Ghazala Khan are the parents of the late US Army Capt. Humayun S. M. Khan, who was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his heroic actions in Operation Iraqi Freedom and for his death in June 2004 while saving his unit from a car packed with explosives.

Mr. Khan spoke at the 2016 Democratic National Convention for his harsh criticism of Republican Presidential Nominee Donald Trump, pointing out that Trump never sacrificed anyone or anything for the United States and that he doubts he ever read the U.S. Consitution.
