Kippure is the oldest television transmission site in the Republic of Ireland, having come on the air in 1961. The transmitter sits atop Kippure Mountain, a granite mountain 2,484 ft in elevation, that straddles the County Dublin and County Wicklow borders.
The site is still in use, being used for the transmission of, on television, RTÉ One and Two, TV3 and TG4, and on the radio side, RTÉ Radio One, 2FM, and Lyric FM, Raidió na Gaeltachta, and Today FM
