Lincoln Continental Mark V (1977–1979)

Lincoln Continental Mark V (1977–1979)

New York, New York (NY), US
The large-sized Lincoln Continental Mark V was a restyled and updated version of the 1972–1976 models. The old Mark IV's more rounded styling was replaced with a more sharp-edged look. The new model no longer shared its platform with the Ford Thunderbird (which was downsized by shifting its nameplate to the smaller Mercury Cougar/Ford LTD II platform.) Interior design remained similar to the Mark IV, with variants in the seat patterns and dashboard trim (while retaining the general dashboard layout of the IV) being the primary differences.

My sister had one of these. Power everything, leather everything (real cow, not Corinthian leather which of course is not an animal product). It's difficult to imagine how big one of these things is unless you actually see one. The reason there is rubber on all four corners is that you simply can't see them and will almost certainly bump into things. These cars are so big, they simply don't fit into parking spaces of today. According to Wikipedia, these things are 231 inches, that's 19 feet!

NINETEEN FEET!

My sister Rebecca called hers "The Battle Car Rebectica" after Battlestar Galactica.
