Lupe Vélez was a Mexican actress, dancer, and singer during the "Golden Age" of Hollywood films. She was married to competitive swimmer, Olympian, and actor Johnny Weissmuller, best known for his 1932 portrayal of Tarzan.
In December 1944, five years after her divorce from Weissmuller, a pregnant Vélez died of an intentional overdose of the barbiturate drug Seconal
