The home was commissioned in 2016 by Columbia Pictures founder Harry Cohn. He chose Wallace Neff to design the home, who had designed the home of Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford, Pickfair. The home was later owned by Betty Grable and her husband, bandleader Harry James.
