Malmo submarine - U3

Malmö, Sweden (SE)
During the middle of the Second World War nine smaller submarines were built. This type of submarine was the first with a fully Swedish design. By reducing the size, more submarines could be built at the same cost. Responsible was Navy Engineer Swenzén. It is also the first completely welded pressure hull, a construction method developed at the Kockum Shipyard in Malmö (Kockums Mekaniska Verkstad AB).
