Memorial Stadium & KEOM Radio Tower

Memorial Stadium & KEOM Radio Tower

Mesquite, Texas (TX), US
The stadium is the home field of West Mesquite and other local high schools in the Mesquite Independent School District.

With 20,000 seats, it's larger than many U.S. college stadiums. If Texas spent as much money on students as they do on high school football stadiums, I wonder if they'd be able to handle so many successful H.S. graduates... or do they just think it's good to have a certain percentage of failures, criminals, methheads and pregnant teens?

The radio tower is 415 feet tall, built in 1992 to replace the original 250 foot, 3,000 watt tower standing since the radio station's launch in September of 1984. KEOM (heard on 88.5 FM in the Mesquite area) is a "noncommercial, educational, community service station" with 61,000 watts and 24-7-365 programming, owned & operated by the Mesquite Independent School District. Students can become DJs if taking Radio Communications classes given by MISD. (Now that's money well-spent!)
