The Mercury Seven were the group of seven Mercury astronauts selected by NASA on April 9, 1959. They flew Mercury program spaceflights from May 1961 to May 1963. The seven astronauts were:

Alan Bartlett "Al" Shepard, Jr. (November 18, 1923 – July 21, 1998)
Virgil Ivan Grissom (April 3, 1926 – January 27, 1967)
