Middle Mill Weir was used in conjunction with a waterwheel to drive the Middle Mill situated adjecent to the River Colne in Colchester. The mill is long gone but the weir and waterwheel remain. The sluice gear to direct the water flow to the waterwheel still exists and is dated 1875 but is locked-up and probably no longer works. There was a mill in this location from the 12th century.
