At this former SAC base, the "Mole Hole" was the alert facility, where air crews lived next to their bombers for up to a week at a time. The building adjoins the alert apron where the bombers were stationed. Tunnels and tubes provided speedy egress from the building and access to the aircraft.

255 Padgette Street now houses the Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Team, Air Wing, and Civilian Search and Rescue Operations. The Westover Metropolitan Airport Operations, Passenger Terminal, and regional development agencies are also located here.
