The Teddington Lock was the site of Monty Python's Flying Circus sketch The Fish Slapping Dance with the two dancing soldiers (John Cleese and Michael Palin) are duelling with fish when Cleese end the duel by using a big fish and Palin falls into the water and eaten by an animated Swastica decorated fish.
