Monument Hill

This is the final resting place of the Republic of Texas Army soldiers who had drawn the "Black Bean" in 1842. There were 176 Prisoners of War who drew from 159 white beans and 17 black beans. Those that drew the black beans were executed.

In 1847, they and other Texans killed in Mexico were moved to Monument Hill.

This is a lovely place to visit, lots of history, and a great view of the Colorado River, and La Grange below.
