The Mormon Battalion Monument is a tower of stone with a wagon wheel on top. A bronze plaque marks the contributions of the battalion and lays out the map of their travels across the southwest.
The Mormon Battalion, the only religiously based unit in United States military history, served from July 1846 to July 1847 during the Mexican-American War of 1846-1848.
