On Tuesday 14th March 2023, Augusto PY3BL, a radio amateur from Brazil reached the summit of Morro Gato do Mato and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 10 contacts in total working on the 40 and 10 metre HF amateur radio bands.
