Over the years, the facility has gone by several names, including I-57/1-64 Raceway, Jefferson County Raceway, K&L Raceway, I-57 Raceway, and Mount Vernon I-57 Speedway.

In August 2005, the track made news headlines when two people died and six were injured when a race car crashed through the fence and into the grandstands.
