Milan's natural history museum houses Italy's most comprehensive overview of the history of life on planet Earth.

The museum is the proud owner of more than two-and-a-half million animal specimens, as well as exhibits, plastic skeletons of all kinds, graphs and documentation. The collections are organised into several areas: minerals, paleontology, the natural history of man, zoology (vertebrates and invertebrates) and ecology. The displays are informative and designed to prove useful both to the expert and the layman.

Besides hosting its rich and comprehensive collections, the museum also organises research and teaching activities, providing scholarly documents, materials and expertise for the knowledge-hungry investigator. There is also a bar-restaurant and a bookshop. (skyteam.com)
