The 1,527 foot tall BREN (Bare Reactor Experiment-Nevada) casts a long shadow. As the name indicates, BREN was an unshielded reactor that could be moved up and down the tower. It was used to determine the amount of radiation received by survivors of an atomic bomb. Originally erected in "Japan Town" (an area of Japanese-style houses in Yucca Flats erected to simulate Hiroshima and Nagasaki), BREN was moved to its present location in 1966 so it wouldn't interfere with underground testing.

It would appear that the tower is gone. I don't see it on Google Earth from 2013 on.
