The collections are mainly of German paintings and sculptures from 1750 to the present. In recent years, in particular, the collection of international contemporary art has been extended. In addition, well-known art works from individual documenta exhibitions since the sixties are on display, by Joseph Beuys, Walter de Maria, Mario Merz, inter alia.
