One of the most popular meeting points in Budapest, this special intersection was renamed several times in the past 100+ years.
First it was called Nyolcszög tér which is the Hungarian phrase for Octagon Square. Then it was simply called Oktogon.
Then in 1936 it was renamed Mussolini Square. It was called again Oktogon between 1945-50. Then the communist regime renamed it to November 7th Square (for the Russian Revolution). After the fall of communism, it was named back to Oktogon.
