Old Section of the Fuji Speedway

Fuji Speedway is a race track in Japan that hosted the Japanes F1 Grand Prix in 1976 and 1977 and later in 2007 and 2008. The circuit has also hosted many other racing series like Super Formula, Asian Le Mans Series, Super Takiyu and the famous 6 hour race FIA World Endurance Fuji 6 Hours.

The track was orginally constructed as a speedway-like circuit in 1963 for NASCAR-style races in Japan as a 4km high-banked speedyway. There was not enought money invested in it, so only one of the corners managed to be created.

Right behind the current 1st corner of the modern circuit lies the 30 degree bank corner that would have been the first corner of the planed speedway. Today it is used as a car park or a place for spectators during races on the circuit.
