Location of the first Fry's Foods grocery store in 1954. The firm grew to 41 stores until its sale in 1972. After a series of expansions, mergers, and consolidations over ensuing decades, the brand is now the The Kroger Company's primary grocery brand in Arizona with 123 stores.
The three sons of co-founder Charles Fry went on to start the Fry's Electronics retail chain in Silicon Valley in 1985, which eventually grew to over forty stores offering PCs, software, do-it-yourself PC components, and consumer electronics until its demise in 2021.
A historic marker is embedded in the sidewalk in front of the Jack in the Box now occupying the location, which itself is also featured on this site as "The Jack in the Box from the Primus Song."
