In 1955, the Ministry of National Education bought the Paris mansion formerly belonging to Alfred Heidelbach. Completely restored since 1991, the premises now house the collections of Japanese art brought back to France by Emile Guimet (1836-1918) after visiting the former country in 1876 along with the painter Félix Régamey.
