A chug is a boat used by Cuban migrants to make the 90 mile and sometimes more journey from Cuba to America. Double the amount of migrants are making the journey in the past fiscal year to take advantage of the US immigration policy known as "wet foot/dry foot". In essence If a Cuban is caught en route from Cuba in the water, they are returned to Cuba. If the Cuban migrant makes it to dry land in American they can receive citizenship.

With the warming of relations, many Cubans are attempting to beat the clock before the policy is ended.
