In 1895, C.W. Post made his first batch of Postum, a cereal beverage, in a barn in Battle Creek, starting the Postum Cereal Company. Though Post sold off the Postum product, it's still made by another company. Post would go on tho invent Grape Nuts, followed by many other breakfast product. This factory complex in Battle Creek is the main manufacturing center for Post Consumer Brands. Marjorie Merriweather Post was the daughter of C. W. Post and the owner of General Foods Corporation.
