Construction of this multi-purpose indoor arena began in August 2008. It opened its doors for the first time on August 18, 2010. It currently serves as the home arena for the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins and the Pittsburgh Power arena football team.
It seats 18,087 for hockey games and over 19,000 for concerts.
It was named Consol Energy Center until October 2016, when PPG signed a 20 year naming rights agreement.
