The Pripyat amusement park and Ferris wheel are well-known symbols of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. The abandoned amusement park is located about four miles from the nuclear power plant. The park was slated to open on May 1st, 1986 but never did as the disaster occured on April 26th.
