Fort Monmouth was officially closed by the Army on September 15, 2011. This and all other radar and military devices have been removed and either transported to Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, or taken out of service.

Actually the satcom courses were transferred to ft gordon years ago. I left about 74 and they moved around 75 or 76. I taught the 46 system for about 3 years and hated it, very confusing to maintain. But, my time there was fun, except for the gas rationing lines, my wife loved Jersey. As a note, I was part of the army test for providing college on base, we starte with about 60 students and ended with 8 people at graduation. It was hard because we had to do our normal Army jobs and could attend classes at night. Spent many a long night doing homework and prepping for instructing classes the next day. The fzmily and I usedvto go to the beach on weekends but my gime there was spent studying.
