Former NBA and current NCAA basketball coach Rick Pitino recently sold his waterfront estate on Florida's Indian Creek Island for just over $17 million. Despite a price reduction, the sale remains one of the most expensive in Miami-Dade County since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Pitino, known for his coaching career in both the NBA and NCAA, purchased the 9,709-square-foot mansion in February 1999 for $5.4 million. The purchase was made by 38 Indian Creek Holdings Land Trust, 38 ICH LLC, a Florida-based limited liability company, as Trustee. It is presumed that Alexandra Dumortier, a French-born interior design and real estate professional, and the ex-wife of Haim Ifergane, who is her senior by 19 years, is the individual behind the acquisition. Alexandra Dumortier is currently employed as a real estate agent at Beachfront Realty and is also the proprietor of 21 Interior Design LLC. In August of 2023, the home is valued at around $29.9 million, providing a significant return on investment for the buyer. The property boasts eight bedrooms, Venetian plaster walls, a chef's kitchen, a resort-style pool, and a large private dock. Indian Creek Island is an exclusive enclave with notable residents such as Julio Iglesias and Carl Icahn. Pitino, who recently left Iona, has taken up the position of head coach at St. John's following the 2022-23 season. As one of the winningest coaches in NCAA Division I history, Pitino's appointment to St. John's Men's Basketball program on March 20, 2023, brings excitement and anticipation for the team's future.
