This is one of three grave markers for this historic blues singer.

Research in the 1980's and 1990's suggest Johnson was buried in the graveyard at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist not far from Greenwood. There is a cenotaph paid for by Columbia Records and many smaller contributors. This obelisk lists all of Johnson's songs. The church is included on the Mississippi Blues Trail.
