The Pontivy castle, known as Rohan's Dukes Castle, was built in the fifteenth century and sixteenth century by the family of Rohan. The first who built it was the Viscount John II of Rohan, son-in-law and opponent of the Duke of Brittany Francis II and governor of Brittany for Charles VIII.
