In the centre of Rome lies the Roma Termini railway station and within the station are the remains of an ancient Roman servian wall that was constructed during the early 4th century BC to protect Rome from attacks. The servian wall was the first wall to be built around Rome, the other being the Aurelian Wall. The wall went around the centre part of modern Rome and had 16 gates.

The Roma Termini was built on the site of a section of the wall. Sections of the wall remain in good condition outside the main station building and sections of the wall have also been included in the modern building. The McDonald's in the station uses the wall as part of its boundaries and another section of the wall stands opposite the McDonald's.
