On Tuesday 1st November 2022, Scott NZ4R and Walt KK4DF, two US radio amateurs reached the summit of Round Mountain and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

They made 58 contacts in total working on the 2 metre VHF 60, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15 and 12 metre HF amateur radio bands.

The summit of Round Mountain is 1323 metres (4341 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
