Opened in 1927 as the headquarters for the Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Company until 1972. In 1973, the structure was listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and in 1980 in the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places.
Extensively renovated it reopened on September 15, 2007 as new exhibit space for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, who's main building is located across the street.
