Scarborough Shoal

Scarborough Shoal, Philippines (PH)
The Scarborough Shoal is a disputed atoll claimed by both China and the Philippines. In 2013, the non-UN arbitration court in The Hague, Netherlands ruled in favor of the Philippines. China rejected the court's decision and since 2013, both nations have sent warships to the atoll.

The atoll received its name from Captain Philip D'Auvergne, whose ship "Scarborough" grounded on one of the rocks in September 1784.
