On Saturday 15th October 2022, Kobayashi 7M4QZE/0, a radio amateur from Japan reached the summit of Shiroiwadake and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 24 contacts in total working on the 70cm UHF and the 40 and 17 metre HF amateur radio bands.

The summit of Shiroiwadake is 2267 metres (7438 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.

Shiroiwadake is in the Nagano Prefecture on Honshu Island.
